The Spectre is a supernatural anti-hero appearing in DC Comics. He is the embodiment of God's vengeance, tasked with punishing the wicked.
The character's origins began with police detective Jim Corrigan in 1940. Murdered by gangsters, Corrigan's soul was refused entry to Heaven and instead bonded with the Spectre-Force, granting him immense power.
